What inspired us to open a tutoring service?  Our answer is just as true today as it was the day we decided to do it: We believe in quality learning, something that is far too important for educators not to give 100% to the students.  Quality learning, to us, means one-on-one instruction time with students.  Our rewards come from the fantastic results the students achieve.  Their excitement about overcoming learning obstacles is still the most rewarding thing we do, even with more than ten years in the business.

Personalized teaching was virtually nonexistent when we entered the education field.  Schools are pinched by tight budgets and cannot afford even small class sizes, much less individual instruction.  Tutoring clinics and companies are only marginally better, offering only slightly smaller class sizes and calling it tutoring.  Real one-on-one instruction provides the superior results that no classroom can match.  We dreamed of creating the perfect teaching environment, and our passion drove us to make that dream happen.

In 1997, we created The Learning Edge.  Our focus was on creating an environment for teachers to individually know each of their students so they could tune the instruction to fit each child’s needs.  We were quickly called upon to assist busy parents help their children overcome their educational challenges and improve their education.  The Learning Edge became one of the very first innovators in the Twin Cities to offer in-home tutoring services, building one success story after another.

It gives us great pride to say that our teachers have helped hundreds of students of all ages and grade levels improve their education and overcome obstacles.  The successes The Learning Edge helped them achieve are what excite us about the work we do.  The strong relationships that are built have created a large family here in the Twin Cities area.  Many of these families remain in contact with us to this very day.
